A Salesman Asked Me What I Do… So I Told Him Everything

A few days ago, I bought a brand new Mercedes.

Not the shiny, fast kind that makes people stare at stoplights (though they did have a Maybach SL680 that was pretty nice...)
But nope. I bought a van.

One of those big Sprinter vans you can turn into a cozy little home on wheels that's perfect for road trips, mountain escapes, or just comfortably hauling the whole family (wife, 4 kids, and a big dog) across the country.

And I paid for it in cash.

That’s the part where things usually get interesting.

Because somewhere in the paperwork process, after I mention I won’t be financing or leasing, the salesperson pauses… glances up… and then asks the question I’ve heard a hundred times:

“So, what do you do for work?”

Now depending on the vibe, I’ve got a few stock answers.

If it feels like they’re just asking to be polite, I’ll say something like “software sales” and that usually ends the conversation lol.

But if they’re curious, like genuinely curious, then I tell them the truth.

Digital marketing.
Online business.
Helping entrepreneurs build something sustainable, automated, and life-giving.

And if they really want to know more?

I’m all in.

Because I remember what it was like working a 9-5 job, knowing I wanted out, but not even realizing that something else existed. Unaware that you could create freedom without burning out or sacrificing your life in the process.

So when someone leans in, I lean in too. It’s my way of paying it forward.

Now if you know me, then you know I’m not a flashy guy.

I’d be more than happy driving my old truck (...a beat up 2001, blue Ford F-150)

But this wasn’t about the vehicle.

It was about what it represents.

The ability to pick up and go.
To take the family on long adventures.
To take months off and not have the business miss a beat.

That’s the part that still blows me away.

Because while we’re out making memories, the systems I’ve built keep things moving. The emails still go out. The sales still come in. The business still grows.

And that, to me, is real wealth.

Not the kind you flash around…

But the kind that buys back your time, gives you freedom of location, and creates financial peace of mind so you can focus on what (and who) matters most.

That’s the gift. That’s the goal.

And if that kind of life sounds good to you (not the “buy a van” part, but the freedom behind it) then stick around.

Because over the next little while, I’ll be sharing more about how I built this… and how you can too.

Talk soon,

Adam

Real talk here for a second. Funnels are great.Ads work (when they work).DMs, launches, webinars, I’ve used them all. But here’s what none of them can do: Deliver a real-time, personalized sales presentation of your offer… 24/7… without you. No scheduling links. No show-up stress. No “hey just checking in on that proposal” emails. Just a fully scripted, brand-aligned, always-on AI Employee that walks your leads from “interested” to “in.” That’s what Declan O’Reilly built. That’s what he uses.And...

Let me ask you something: What if your “next level” wasn’t about working more… but removing yourself from the equation entirely? In the last email, I told you about how my calendar, full of demos, proposals, onboarding, follow-ups, finally pushed me to ask a better question: “What would it look like if my business could sell itself?” Since then, I’ve been paying close attention to how the best operators are scaling, and it’s not what most people think. They’re not building more...

This probably isn’t the first time you’ve heard someone say: “Work smarter, not harder.” But let’s be honest, in business, we’re often forced to do both. I’ve been in marketing for over a decade now.I’ve seen every shiny object, hack, and hype cycle come and go.Funnels. Bots. Broadcasts. DMs. Demos. Cold outreach. You name it. And if you’re anything like me, a builder, a strategist, a real operator, you’ve probably tried most of it too. But a few months ago, something clicked for me.Or...
